The Save A Brave group of Manalapan High School conducted a Safe Driving campaign that was both peer and community focused. They coupled with SADD on the High School Traffic Safety Challenge, advertising with bulletin boards and daily announcements. A half day was spent at the middle school, speaking to the 8th graders about high school and responsible behaviors as they feel they are responsible for the Teen Safe Driver Initiative in their school. This is a district-wide mandatory program for all 11th graders in order to receive a parking permit for their senior year. The parents were also required to attend an evening program. A program was presented for them on challenges facing new drivers, completed with a humorous skit on examples of parental driving scenarios. The student program included speakers and a preview of their music video. In April, Save a Brave joined with SADD for the Annual Candlelight Vigil Against DUI. This is a community event involving the mayor’s office, community alliance, and local businesses.
